Sift through the dirt
and look for telltale signs:
beer caps & plastic soldiers,
coins & dolls,
bones of cats, dogs.
Take the dirt in your hands,
feel it run through your fingers
and ask who passed this way.
The dirt lets worms answer,
its indifference.
